Metallica Through The Never 3D

The Movie
Metallica Through The Never is a concert movie which also includes some fantasy sequences about Trip who is a young stage hand, these fantasy sequences are definitely the highlight of the movie which include some great special effects and some large scale rioting. The concert movie itself is really good but will appeal more to big Metallica fans, they play all of there classics of which i am familiar with and some i wasn't as familiar with. I did enjoy the movie but in some parts i felt it dragged on a tiny bit

The 3D
I had high hopes for this movie and in some parts it delivered but in others it didnt, Depth in the movie is sometimes excellent and sometimes seems flat and lifeless, this is always in the concert sequences. The fantasy sequences look spectacular in 3D especially a scene involving Trip on fire which includes great layering between the background and the main character. Pop out in this movie is kept very minimum which doesn't really bother me as it is meant to be a concert movie and immerse you into the concert, as this is mostly the case with Metallica Through The Never it succeeds fairly well

The Audio
Watching this in 5.1 DTS is the best way to go with this film, James Hetfields vocals are very clear through the centre speaker and all the other instruments sound excellent as well. The subwoofer is very loud on this concert and has floor shattering bass. The rear speakers are mostly kept for the audience which is mostly standard for a concert. The mixing has been done perfectly on this and immerses you greatly into the concert, the only thing better would be to have watched it at the imax

Overall
It is a good concert movie with good 3D and a floor shattering sound mix, it is worth owning and is a must for anyone who is a Metallica fan

Despicable Me 2 3D

The Movie

Despicable Me 2 is a sequel which is just as good as the the 1st movie and is definitely worth a watch no matter what age group you stand in. Some of the humor is childish as expected in a family movie but as animation movies of 2013 go it is one of the stronger ones in the category

The 3D

As this is a animation movie the expectations for great 3D are high and it definitely delivers in the 3D section. The depth is great in most shots and you can clearly see multiple layering throughout the movie unfortunately quite a few shots feel flat and lifeless but on the other hand the main reason to watch this in 3D is possibly the pop out effects, this is where things go excellent as unicorn balloons and other assorted objects seem to appear through the edges of your TV. Colors are vibrant and i saw no rough edges on any of the characters, another good note is cross talking and ghosting are kept to an absolute minimum as the only ghosting i saw was towards the end of the movie.

The Audio
Unfortunately i cannot really comment on the surround sound of this movie as i watched it with headphones on

Overall this is definitely a movie worth owning in 3D and should be part of everyones collection
